Join STEM Skool for a special afternoon celebrating creativity, storytelling, and the world of illustration at the VAPA Center.


Students will meet Charlotte native Jerrard K. Polk, the author and illustrator of A Trip with BLIP, a newly released Seuss Studios book published by Random House Children's Books.

Middle & High School Students:

  • Character Design and Creative Careers in Illustration Workshop
  • Learn how professional illustrators develop characters, build their careers, and work with major publishers.
  • Students should bring a sketchbook or drawing pad and their preferred drawing supplies. Digital artists are welcome to bring a tablet.


Elementary Students:

  • Interactive read-aloud of A Trip with BLIP
  • Meet the author/illustrator
  • Q&A and book discussion


This is a wonderful opportunity for students who love art, storytelling, animation, graphic novels, or simply want to explore creative careers.
